This past Tuesday, September 26th, I had the honor of attending the Fearless Photographers Charity Dinner in Great Falls, VA. This event was organized by some pretty incredible talent! Photographers Kristi Odom, Lisa Boggs, and Huy Nguyen, the founder of the Fearless Photographers Group; did a fantastic job of bringing local photographers together to raise money for some incredible causes. We raised $3,175 total, and $2,225 of that money raised went toward the spotlight charity, The African Wildlife Foundation.
Huy Nguyen has a long successful career as a photographer, and arranged for one of his old friends, Lawrence Jackson to attend as the speaker. Lawrence Jackson was a photographer for the Associated Press, as well as a photographer for the Obama administration for all 8 years. You can imagine my excitement when I had the pleasure of getting to sit next to him during dinner, and of course ask the question I’m sure he’s had to answer a million times, “what was it like working with Obama?”
He was a true class act, and was happy oblige and tell me all kinds of interesting details and stories. He got up and spoke for a bit, and you could hear a pin drop in the room when he shared his account of working in the White House and traveling the world alongside Obama. Everyone was captivated by the insight he shared, and the stories he had to tell.
I had a wonderful time, and I’m so thankful to be a part of such an incredible community of such talented photographers that value giving back.
